Tonight I took myself off again to the Lowry at Salford Quays. I think I might have spent more time getting to the venue than I did watching the dance. It was only about 55 minutes in length
When I got to lime street I discovered my train was cancelled. So off I went to see the board to find the next one.. OK, 20 Minutes later, fine. Except, that train didn’t stop at the station I needed. So noticing the information kiosk was open I queued up only for some jobsworth to stop me queuing and just told me to get the next train. Fine.. but it doesn’t stop where I need to go.. she didn’t care in the slightest. So off I get at Oxford Road, then switch platforms for a train one stop back. Then on to the tram. Good job I left traveling time etc.
Arrived at The Lowry to be told the bar wasn’t open so to get a drink at the main bar, then head up to the theater about 7:45pm. It would start at 8pm. Fine.. but they didn’t say that you could have just got a drink and took it up with you… ffs. Anyway , had my drink, made my way up to the Quays theater at the back of the Lowry and went to find my seat. Back row, middle seat. Perfect leg room. Shortly afterwards, the show started.
It was a four-dancer piece with a general theme of facing your fears etc. I really can’t say this one spoke to me much. I’ve really.. seen better it seems. But that’s OK, they can’t all be winners. It was a relatively short piece without an interval so seemed shorter anyway. I can’t rake anything away from the talented dancers that performed it or the choreographer who designed it. It went without a hitch it seemed. It just didn’t really speak to me with any kinda deeper message.
Getting home.. there was a tram awaiting me at 9pm to take me back to Deansgate and I’ll jump on whatever train I can that comes first. My booked train isn’t till 10:30pm. But as it goes.. the earlier train was cancelled. Now waiting to see if the next one actually runs.. if not, will we get home tonight? – We did.
Edit: Just been back through this one to correct all the spelling mistakes.. shocking!
