Sunday night out in town.. What am I like?
Tonight was the Movie Themes by Candlelight at the St. Georges Hall in Liverpool. This was a performance by the London Concertante. They seem to fairly regularly play this venue alternating between these Movie & TV Theme songs and evenings of purely classical music. They are back sometime in April, and I think I might just go and see them again. They were brilliant. The music was great and the performance of the music was fantastic. Tight music, played with passion. They played for about an hour with a short internal in the middle (even though the tickets said there would be no intervals)…
The seats were good, in the B block, you could sit wherever you wanted within the block. Which is a bit silly, but many places are running that kind of seating at the moment. There was spaces for sure, and with a little more thought, we might have been able to get end row seats, but it wasn’t to be. The seats… talk about being stuck. I couldn’t get out of the seats. My hips were too wide. I had to turn on my side to extract myself. Not at all embarrassing, or painful oh no.
But I have to say, the circumstances around getting to down, soured the evening for me. Had a taxi booked for 17:30… no taxi, 17:45… no taxi, 18:00… ordered a second taxi… no taxi, 18:15… no taxi… So we ended up having to walk to Park Road and eventually got a bus into town. A walk later and I was going to book in. Then I walked down through and into the Pub where I found the ladies. Sat down then for literally 10 minutes or so before we had to go back to the venue and grab our seats. When we arrived, we were ushered towards the lift rather than using the main entrance, perhaps it was to avoid the stairs, perhaps they saw us and thought ‘ok this lot needs the lifts’… anyway. So apart from the travel to the city centre and the rushing to make the start.. and don’t get me started on getting home… But…
Enjoyed the Music, would go for the music again.
